23a - civilisation britannique (A. Bourenane)

This course explores the main dates and events in the history of the British Isles, with a special focus on the history of certain British institutions such as the British parliament, the prime minister, the cabinet and government, the main political parties, and the construction of the British identity from the early nineteenth century until the end of World War II (1945). The course first aims to familiarise students with the culture and institutions in the British Isles, second to provide a variety of sources for the students to acquire information and develop a critical point of view of history, and third to acquire a methodology of reading texts and composing text commentaries.
